October 6, 2024 – – – Cory Hedgecock’s 2024 win total now stands at four following a pair of Crate Racin’ USA Series victories during the ‘Red Farmer Tribute’ weekend at Talladega Short Track on October 4-5! In Friday’s opener at the storied Eastaboga, Alabama oval, Cory earned Fast Time honors during qualifying prior to leading all 37 circuits of the 604 Crate Late Model main event to secure the $3,700 first place prize over runner-up Jake Rainey, Bubba Roling, Jimmy Thomas, and Tyler Millwood. On Saturday evening at TST, a similar story was told, as Cory laid down the quickest lap during CRUSA time trials and later led all 60 laps of the ‘Red Farmer Tribute’ finale to pocket the $6,000 winner’s check ahead of runner-up Randy Weaver, Jimmy Thomas, Matt Dooley, and Tyler Millwood.
The #23 team pulled double-duty throughout the weekend at Talladega Short Track and also flashed some serious speed against the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series foes. With a $5,038 payday up for grabs on Friday night, Cory qualified second quickest in Group B during time trials, but was unfortunately an early retiree in the 38-lapper and was officially paid for a twenty-second place showing. In Saturday’s finale, which boasted a whopping $15,097 top prize, the Loudon, Tennessee ace won his heat race, led twice during the 50-lap headliner (laps 3-14, 48), and ultimately crossed underneath the checkered flag a close runner-up behind only victor Zack Mitchell! “Our Crate car was the most balanced thing I’ve driven in a long time,” quoted Hedgecock this week following the pair of victories. “It was untouchable all weekend – I can’t wait to go run that thing again. Our Super car was great as well, but we just guessed wrong on tires on Friday and that derailed our run real quick. On Saturday, we fell back to third in the heat, but drove back by Overton and Tidmore to win it. Battled hard for the win in the feature, led some laps, and finished a close second. It was a great weekend and I can’t thank everyone associated with our team enough for the continued support!”
Next up for Cory Hedgecock Motorsports will be a visit to Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky this Saturday, October 12. The 37th edition of the ‘Paul Butterball Wooldridge Memorial’ will be held at the Bluegrass State venue and the single-day shootout will be co-sanctioned by both the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series and the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series. The storied race will pay $12,059 to win and $1,200 just to start the feature event. Additional information can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.richmond-raceway.net.
