September 15, 2024 – – – Fresh off an impressive ‘World 100’ week at Eldora Speedway, Cory Hedgecock returned to racing action on Saturday evening, September 14 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee. The Topless Outlaws Dirt Racing Series presided over the ‘Hall of Fame 50’ and a $5,000 winner’s check was up for grabs.
Cory, who was aboard a #20J BMF racecar, laid down the fifth quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session and later rolled off from the inside of the fifth row for the start of the 40-lap headliner. The Loudon, Tennessee ace was on the move early and often during the course of the contest and ultimately landed on the podium in the third position. Cory trailed only victor Skip Arp and runner-up Rusty Ballenger at the unfurling of the checkered flag.
