October 13, 2024 – – – Cory Hedgecock Motorsports found themselves back in victory lane on Saturday night, October 12 at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky! The 37th Annual ‘Butterball Wooldridge Memorial’ was on tap at the Bluegrass State bullring and both the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series and the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series presided over all of the dirt-slinging action.
With 37 entries on hand for the special event, Cory Hedgecock started off his evening by clicking off the third fastest lap in Group B during the qualifying session. Cory then secured a victory in his heat race to earn the outside of the front row for the start of the 59-lap feature event. The Loudon, Tennessee ace then led each and every circuit of the ‘Butterball Wooldridge Memorial’ to bag the $12,059 first place prize money ahead of runner-up Ricky Weiss, Camaron Marlar, Rusty Schlenk, and Freddie Carpenter! “We’ve got our BMF racecars working really well right now,” commented Hedgecock after capturing the five-figure payday for his first ‘Butterball Wooldridge Memorial’ title. “I didn’t mind all of those caution flags that slowed the action during the race except for that last one with only two laps to go. Lapped traffic was pretty rough all night, but we were able to stay out front and get the win. Hopefully, we can keep things rolling and have another strong run this upcoming weekend at Eldora!”
The #23 team will now turn their focus to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, as the 44th installment of the ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ will be held on October 18-19. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction the prestigious DTWC, which kicks off on Friday night with time trials and heat races. On Saturday evening, consolation events and the 100-lap headliner will take center stage at the “Big E” with a whopping $100,000 paycheck up for grabs.
The last time Cory was in action at the high-banked, 1/2-mile oval, he finished an impressive sixth in the 54th Annual ‘World 100’ back in early September. If you can’t make it to Eldora Speedway, watch every lap of competition LIVE on FloRacing.
