September 22, 2024 – – – Cory Hedgecock, of Loudon, Tennessee, invaded both Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, Tennessee over the September 19-21 weekend. On Thursday night in the annual ‘Scorcher’ at Bulls Gap, Cory stopped the clock fifth quickest overall during time trials to earn the inside of the sixth row for the start of the $10,000 to win main event. At the completion of the 50-lapper, his #23 machine was in the sixth finishing position behind only victor Camaron Marlar, Dale McDowell, Michael Brown, Donald McIntosh, and Brandon Overton.
At Thunderhill, the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series presided over the annual running of the ‘Mark Fields Memorial.’ In Friday’s $5,000 to win battle, Cory placed third in his consolation race prior to advancing three spots during the 30-lap feature on his way to a twelfth place effort. With a $15,000 top prize up for grabs in the weekend finale on Saturday evening, Cory ran fifth in his heat race, won his B-Main, and later blasted past six competitors during the 50-lapper en route to another twelfth place showing.
