June 2, 2024 – – – Pulling off the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, Cory Hedgecock stayed much closer to home this weekend in competing at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee and Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee. Cory pulled double-duty on Friday night, May 31 at I-75, but unfortunately did not start the Limited Late Model feature event. Things went much smoother in the $2,000 to win Best Plumber 604 Crate Late Model show, as Cory ran second in his heat race prior to blasting past five competitors during the 30-lap headliner. At the checkers, the Loudon, Tennessee native was on the podium in third behind only victor Ricky Weiss and runner-up Bradley Lewelling.
On Saturday evening, June 1 at the bad-fast “Taz,” Cory and the #23 team vied for the $10,000 top prize in the annual ‘Melvin Corum Memorial,’ which was sanctioned by the Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series. Cory laid down the sixth quickest lap in his group during qualifying at the 1/4-mile, high-banked oval before Mother Nature swooped in and postponed the remainder of the show to June 21.
