November 3, 2024 – – – The sixth triumph of the 2024 racing season for Cory Hedgecock came on Friday night, November 1 at the nearby I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee! Against Hunt the Front (HTF) Super Dirt Series foes, Cory earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session prior to picking up a victory in his heat race. After starting the 50-lap main event from the outside of the front row, Cory led 30 of the first 31 circuits before giving way to Brandon Overton in heavy lapped traffic.
The Loudon, Tennessee hotshoe then regained the point with ten laps to go when Overton slowed with a flat tire. Cory controlled the final stage of the race to secure the $10,000 first place prize money for his ninth career Super Late Model touring series win at the Volunteer State venue. Finishing behind his #23 at the unfurling of the checkered flag was runner-up Stormy Scott, Dale McDowell, Kaede Loudy, and Ashton Winger!
Cory Hedgecock Motorsports then returned to I-75 Raceway on Saturday evening, November 2, as a $20,000 winner’s check was on the line in the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series grand finale. Cory timed in third quickest in Group B during qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the third row in the 50-lapper, Cory was able to steer his BMF racecar past a pair of competitors en route to a strong fourth place performance behind only victor Brandon Overton, Dale McDowell, and Mike Marlar. “I knew we were struggling in traffic – I just couldn’t get by those lapped cars and then Brandon (Overton) drove by me,” Hedgecock said in victory lane following his first career Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series victory. “I felt like I got up on the wheel (after that) and felt like I did something, but apparently he had a flat tire. Either way, we will take it. Just a good night for our race team. I hate me and Brandon couldn’t duke it out, but I really do think we were maybe as fast as him at times and then at times he was faster than me. I just have to thank everyone that supports our race team and hopefully we can keep gaining momentum before the season is over!”
The #23 team is slated to enjoy the upcoming November 8-9 weekend away from the racetrack, while prepping their equipment for a visit to Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia on November 15-16. The Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series will preside over the doubleheader weekend at the Atlanta-area venue, which kicks off on that Friday with the $20,000 to win ‘Peach Bowl.’ In Saturday’s annual ‘Peach State Classic,’ a whopping $30,000 paycheck will be up for grabs for the Super Late Model winner.
