August 11, 2024 – – – Following a weekend off, Cory Hedgecock Motorsports trekked to the renowned Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky from August 8-10 for the 42nd edition of the storied ‘North/South 100.’ The action-packed weekend at the Cincinnati-area venue, which was sanctioned once again by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, kicked off with a pair of $6,000 to win, split-field preliminary programs.
On Thursday night in the weekend opener, Cory Hedgecock finished second in his heat race and vaulted up to as high as second in the 25-lap feature before winding up sixth at the checkered flag. In Friday’s show, Cory grabbed the fifth and final transfer spot through his heat race and later passed six cars during the 25-lapper en route to a respectable eleventh place showing.
In front of a jammed-packed grandstand crowd on Saturday evening, Cory nabbed the third transfer position through his heat race prior to rolling off from the inside of the eighth row in the 100-lap crown jewel headliner. With a whopping $75,000 paycheck up for grabs, the Loudon, Tennessee ace blasted up inside of the top five early in the feature distance and was in the fifth spot when he unfortunately retired due to a faulty master disconnect on lap 28. Despite turning heads with his early run through the talented field, Cory was relegated to a disappointing twenty-seventh place performance in the ‘North/South 100.’ Complete results from the entire weekend at Florence Speedway can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.
