July 27, 2024 – – – The points portion of the 2024 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series came to a close tonight at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee. The ‘Ray Varner Ford 75’ was on tap and a whopping $20,053 first place prize was up for grabs. Cory Hedgecock laid down the seventeenth fastest time overall during qualifying, but later piloted his #36V machine to a third place effort in his heat race. Cory then picked off three competitors during the course of the 75-lap headliner to claim a strong fifth place performance behind only race winner Dale McDowell, Mike Benedum, Dakotah Knuckles, and Zack Mitchell. Despite amassing two more overall points than series Champion Donald McIntosh, Cory finished a close second in the final Southern Nationals Series point tally after each driver’s worst finish was thrown out.
July 26, 2024 – – – Finally there was some good weather today for the penultimate event of the Schaeffer’s OIl Southern Nationals Series at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. Aboard the #36V Viper Motorsports machine once again, Cory Hedgecock stopped the clock sixth quickest overall during the qualifying session prior to recording a heat race triumph. After starting third on the grid in the $10,053 to win ‘Young Memorial,’ Cory ultimately finished on the podium in third after 53 green flag circuits. The Loudon, Tennessee ace trailed only victor Dale McDowell and runner-up Donald McIntosh to the checkered flag!
July 25, 2024 – – – Another day, another rain out for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series. Due to overnight showers and more soggy weather on the way, tonight’s $7,553 to win throwdown at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. We will try again on Friday evening, July 26 in the ‘Young Memorial’ at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia, which will shell out a $10,053 top prize!
July 23, 2024 – – – The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series was once again rained-out tonight at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. The $7,553 to win program at the “Place Your Momma Warned You About” will not be rescheduled. Next up will be a visit to Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia on Thursday, July 25.
July 21, 2024 – – – After several straight days of inclement weather, the Cory Hedgecock Motorsports team finally returned to action in a special Sunday matinee at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia. The 25th Annual ‘Rebel Yell’ was on tap today at SMS and a $10,053 winner’s check was up for grabs. Cory Hedgecock knocked down the second quickest lap overall during qualifying prior to securing a heat race triumph. After starting the 53-lap main event from the outside of the front row, Cory took the lead briefly on lap 29 before winding third at the checkers behind only race winner Casey Roberts and runner-up Ross Bailes!
July 20, 2024 – – – Tonight’s annual ‘Rebel Yell’ at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia has been postponed by rain until Sunday, July 21. A $10,053 top prize will still be on the line tomorrow in the 25th edition of the storied race, which will mark the fifth event of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series.
July 19, 2024 – – – Due to the high probability of afternoon thunderstorms and rain continuing into the evening, tonight’s $7,553 to win Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series show at the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway has been rained out and postponed until Friday, August 2.
July 18, 2024 – – – Cory Hedgecock was one of the 28 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series entrants in the pit area tonight at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia. Unfortunately, heavy rain cut loose right before hot laps and the $7,544 to win ‘Roscoe Smith Classic’ was washed out.
July 16, 2024 – – – Next up on the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series grind was a short trip to I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee tonight for a $7,553 to win program. Cory Hedgecock timed in fifth quickest in Group B during the qualifying session to earn the outside of the fifth row for the start of the 40-lap main event. Cory then steered his family-owned #23 machine past seven racecars during the contest to land on the podium in third behind only winner Dale McDowell and runner-up Donald McIntosh! Still second in series points, Cory will travel to Senoia (GA) Raceway next on Thursday, July 18!
July 14, 2024 – – – The grueling Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series rolled into the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway tonight for round three of the popular miniseries. A stout 24-car field converged on the Bulls Gap, Tennessee speedplant to do battle for the $7,553 first place prize. Cory Hedgecock stopped the clock second quickest in Group A during the qualifying session to earn the inside of the second row for the start of the 40-lap main event. The Loudon, Tennessee ace then raced hard inside of the top five throughout the ‘Summer Sizzler’ and ultimately came home in the fourth spot behind only victor Dale McDowell, Chris Madden, and Ricky Weiss. Cory now sits second in the latest version of the Southern Nationals point standings heading into nearby I-75 Raceway on Tuesday, July 16!
July 13, 2024 – – – Round two of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals tour took the Cory Hedgecock Motorsports team to the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia tonight for another $10,053 to win throwdown. Aboard the Viper Motorsports #36V car, Cory timed in fifth quickest overall during qualifying prior to running second in his heat race to Dale McDowell. In the 53-lap headliner, Cory started third and was running inside of the top five when he suffered a flat right front tire on lap 25. He was then forced to rebound from the back to salvage an eighth place showing.
July 12, 2024 – – – Cory Hedgecock, of Loudon, Tennessee, kicked off the 20th Anniversary of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series earlier tonight at Beckley Motor Speedway in Mount Hope, West Virginia. With 26 Super Late Model competitors on hand for the $10,053 ‘Black Gold 53,’ Cory started off his evening by laying down the fourth quickest time overall during the qualifying session. Unfortunately, he was involved in an early heat race incident and was forced to unload his back-up car – the #36V Viper Motorsports machine. The 2022 series Champion then rallied to finish third in the B-Main before picking off eleven more competitors during the 53-lap main event to salvage a solid tenth place performance.
